Toenail will not heal
My boyfriend injured his big toe almost two years ago.
The toenail fell off and grew back, but he reinjured it a year ago, and now everytime he stubs it, or someone steps on it, or even strenuously exercises it causes him great pain and bleeds quite a bit.
He always has scabs on the outer edges of the toenail.
We thought if we just waited, it would heal, but this has gone on for at least a year.
What can he do about it?
thanks!

Amy, your boyfriend needs to see a doctor. It is quite likely that the nail borders are ingrown and will need to be removed. This is a minor procedure done in the office. Often times, after injuries like the one your boyfriend sustained, damage to the nail plate occurs and the nail does not grow back correctly.Make him see a podiatrist! Good luck.
