TORN CALF MUSCLE
(14 discussions)
I was helping move a couch and when I pushed I felt a pop in my calf. I can not put my foot down flat without bending my knee and I can not straighten my leg without tilting my foot down, I can put some pressure on my toes, there is swelling in my ankle and foot, it has been 13 days, I am not seeing hardly any change in my injury should I be more concerned that this may not be a torn calf muscle as preveious diagnosed?

I tore my calf muscle several years ago (it’s vertically split in half) and never sought medical attention. Since it healed on its own, when I run and try to do more than a few miles ( I used to be a marathoner), it pulls and I’m out of action for weeks. Can anything be done or is it too late?

Injured Playing football 8 days ago.Can walk ok now, but still swollen and very sore if I bump it. The pain is in the center inside part of the calf muscle. How long does this normally take to heal?Is there any risk of blood clotting? I did not see a doctor. Should I? I am a 40 year old male. Thanks

In January while playing tennis I heard a pop in the calf of my leg. I got off the court immediately and put ice on leg. Had some swelling and discoloration around the ankle but after 3 weeks was gone. Now 5/29/04 my calf has a funny feeling at times not pain and I have tendorness around the lower inside part of the knee. It doe not hurt when I walk or go up stair, or play tennis. I have been wearing a support around my calf or sometimes I put it below the knee. Should I put ice on it after I play tennis?

I’ve just torn my second calf muscle. first one was left leg on the inside. I’m a keen footballer and was out of action for 3months. I initially went back to football(soccer) after 6weeks and caused a bit more damage which resulted in swelling and extensive bruising. This time it’s my right leg although a different tear. last time I couldnt put my toes on the ground at all…this time it’s easier to walk on my toes on the right leg. same pain, same symptoms but a different tear. last tiem I was limping for around 2 weeks so expecting significant improvement in 72 hours or even a week is in my experience expecting a bit too much.

I tore my calf muscle yesterday while playing badminton. Could anyone provide me any tips on what I should do to hasten the recovery? I’m a full-time international research student in the UK. Obviously, the faster I cab get back on my foot, the better is for me. I’m 40 year old male. Thanks

After traing for an ironman event I was simply doing a light jog and felt a sharp pain in the calf muscle. I went to a local physio who told me the calf was torn slightly. I am wondering what the best recovery I should do I have 10 weeks till my next ironman

Finally someone with the same problem as me, I have had it for almost 9 years now and let me tell u if u let it untreated like I did your gonna be sorry for the rest of your life, go to a phisical therapyst NOW cus the longer you leave it like that the bigger the knot and the bigger the pain will be, that knot u have is only a large amount of scar tissiu ( that’s what my therapist told me). Oh by the way if the treatment that they give u works please e-mail me.Best of luck.
