torn ligament in heel
I have a torn ligament in my heel which is very painful. I have tried steroids w moderate success and antiinflammatories. I have to walk around a lot every day so rest for a long time wont work. I have heard about magnets and I also wanted to know what product(s) I can put in my shoe to take the load off bottom of heel when I walk.

First I would askif you have seen a podiatrist. If not I recommend you do. There are many conservative things that can be done for this problem.Basically, an arch support that you can buy in a store or over the Internet is a pre-fab. They might help, but that is difficult to predict without an examination. Ice, rest, taping, night splints, stretching orthotics, injections, anti-inflammatories are all possible treatments.Magnets have been written about with reports ranging from good to useless. All magnets are not the same. In fact the mechanism of action is disputed. I have used them with some degree of success in some patients. I prefer to think of it as a low level Tens unit. Good luck
