Torn rotor cuff

(11 discussions)

I’ve been told I have a torn rotor cuff in my right shoulder. Monday I had a MRI to that area. While waiting for the results, I have terrible pain in my upper arm (bicep area) as well as my forearm, to the point it is very painfully to even lify a cup of coffee. Is it possible this is related, or do I have other problems in my arm? Any help/advise would be appreciated.Jim

You should you to a doctor and ask for a MRI on your shoulder. I injured my shoulder and for over a month thought it was getting better. Only to find out I had reinjured it in a car accident. I tore the rotor cuff along with the tendons and legiments. Even thought it was painful I could still move it.

Jim, I have had surgery in July about 11 weeks ago. I used to have pain in my shoulder and in my upper arm. My MRI’s showed tear and a spur in my rotar cuff but after the dr went in orthoscopicly he found some kind of inflamation in my bicep also torn tendons. So, I ended up having not only repairs to my rotar cuff but also in my bicep. I advice you to go see a SHOULDER specialist and see what he or she have to tell you. I’m still going for physical therapy and in pain sometimes but eventhough my range of movements isn’t complete yet I feel a lot better than before surgery already.. For me it was worth going through the surgery.
    Best of luck..

    Jim,
I’m experiencing the same pain in the upper arm also. Had xray over year ago and found bone spur then given two injections over the year which helped and now I can’t have another injection. Dr. says he thinks it might be a torn rotor cuff.
Had MRI done yesterday will get results in 2 days.T he upper arm muscle is causing so much pain that it is hard to type.Just wondering is the pain the results of the torn muscle I’m not really understanding? has the muscle completely torn from the shoulder? Would love to find some info out today to be a little informed before I go into drs. Thanks

The pain in your arm sure could be from your torn rotator cuff. Go see a good orthopedic surgeon that does lot’s of cuff repairs. In the meantime stop lifting anything that makes it hurt. Good luck, Mya

Try Using DMSO for the swelling and pain. It should get you through until they decide to operate.

I messed my rotor cuff up racing 2 years ago… I went to physical therepy and it didn’t seem to help at all.. He gave me a inflamitory percription for some reason but it didn’t help either. I’ve been holding the surgery off for 2 years now.. I’m able to pop my arm outta the socket thats how bad its getting but ide say the surgery would be the best way to go and the fastest instead of messing around with all the other little stuff..
