Hello, it's rotator cuff...not cup. Did your doc say it was severe enough for surgery or to strenghten your rotator cuff muscles? If he said to strenghten them ask for a prescription for physical therapy to be educated in these exercises. I would hold off on the stretches for now...you have torn ligament...stretching is not good for torn ligaments. Good luck, Mya

I am in the healing process and just need to know what I can take or do naturally to relieve the pain. At night I can barely sleep, I am up constantly and would like to know if heat or cold compresses better. I put my arm on a pillow but it doesn’t seem to help much. I just do want to re injure it. I haven’t had it in a sling or anything and I do use my left arm everyday, am I suppose to or not.

How does a torn rotor cup feel? What are some of the remedies to make it stop hurting? What tests are available to tell if you have a torn rotor cup?

I’m not sure what is wrong with my left shoulder. I have been having problems with it since last october. My index finger is not total numb but tingles all the time. In october it hurt so bad I had to get pain meds and then steriod treatment. The majority of the pain is gone. Now it just is a dull pain all the time. I have difficulty sleeping on that side. I have been taking Ibeprobin and deep massage theropy and it does’nt fell any better . What can I do with this. I ready to be done with this.

Years of carrying a heavy shoulder bag and old age, I am 55, gave me a weak rotor cup that I think I partially tore when I slipped on a wet surface. I have been unable to do push ups, or comfortably raise my arm; fastening a bra and lifting anything over a few pounds is a real challenge. The worst is the horrible migranes that last for days and cause nausea and require resting in a dark room. Aspirin will not cure these headaches! The migranes occur if I strain my shoulder in any way; so I can no longer wear a shoulder bag, nor can I lift anything over a few pounds. It is best to see a good orthopedic surgeon. However, I cannot afford Blue Cross right now so surgery will have to wait. In the meantime I must be very careful.
