injury due to car accident. GP said no casting required walking ok. Applying ice and elevating however would appreciate any suggestings on accelerating healing. Should I stay off it as much as possible? Will splint help? How long will it take to heal?

The fibula is a non weight bearing bone and usually they let folks walk as long as they are not experiencing pain. Your body naturally heals bones in 6 – 8 weeks. You can prolong this process by smoking or excessive drinking. It just takes time to heal. Use ice for pain control and let pain be your guide…don’t over do.
