unexplained itchiness of middle toe on left foot

The underside of my middle toe is incredibly itchy. The skin seems tight, reddish, and swollen.
Its driving me nuts.
At first I thought it was a bite, but its been about three weeks since the itchiness started.
Could it be chilblains?
The skin is not cracked or ulcerated.
I live on the Canadian west coast where it is damp, but I’ve never had this before (not that I can remember). My house is dampish, too.
My mom suffered from chilblains.
And, I had a baby seven months ago–could it be my hormones changing back to “normal?” My hands and feet are often cold… poor circulation?
Sounds like chilblains, but why one this toe?
I had a toe ring on it that I never took off, could that contribute to it?
From what I’ve researched so far, sounds like chilblains, but my toe does not match the pictures I see of it.

Without seeing you toe I can not be sure. I would suspect the toe ring is a possible cause. I have several patients who have had allergic reactions to rings and earrings when pregnant. You might want to try a cortisone cream and if that doesn’t help any, see a dermatologist or podiatrist.
