I would be willing to bet that you had what is commonly termed a “Boxer’s Fracture”, which is a fracture of the 5th (Small) finger. It is very common, and usually caused when someone punches something hard. Your case sounds classic. You really should get an X-ray to see, exactly, what you did. How old are you? Young teens need to be especially careful with any injuries involving their “Growth Plates”, or that bone will never grow properly again.Since it has already been a couple of months, any fracture you had will have already healed. The problem, however, is that if the bone did not heal correctly, the person can have problems with both range-of-motion, and joint arthritis for life. An Orthopedist can take an X-ray, and see what the prognosis is. If you have a malalligned fracture, it can sometimes still be repaired with surgery. Hopefully, this won’t be necessary in your case, but it would be best if you got an X-ray to at least be able to find out what you are dealing with. Please let us know your age, and if you have any present loss of normal motion with that finger. If you do wind up seeing a doctor (which I suggest), please also write back and let us know what he suggests.
