Warts or verruca are epidermal benign growths that can be painful in weight bearing areas on the bottom or plantar aspect of the foot. There is no one perfect cure for verruca and every doctor has their own way of treating these. Surgical treatments are designed to physically remove the wart tissue and I am not convinced that any one particular way is the best. Each doctor may be comfortable with a different method. All surgeries will leave a scar though. If it is not in a weight bearing area, it will probably be OK. In my office, with kids under 18 years old I will offer Tagament (Cimetidine) orally. I have been usuing this for more than 6 years and the success rate is about 80% in kids, about 30% in adults. It is painless, but also not 100% either. Talk to you doctor or a podiatrist or a dermatologist about this and other non surgical options. Good luck
