Walking – trip alot

When resting my feet point, like a ballerina. They do not rest comfortably flat like most people’s feet do. High heel shoes are more comfortable to me because my foot naturally slopes that direction. (boots that cover my ankles and that restrict me from relaxing my foot cause my ankles to become sore. (I hope you understand what I mean.) While in the hospital to deliver my 3rd child the nurse told me to relax my foot and I told her it was. She then said, that I had drop foot and asked me if I trip a lot. At that time,(7 years ago) I didn’t trip anymore than a normal person. Lately though, I trip at least once, sometimes twice a day. Not a big deal, never gotten more than a bad bruise from it. But, at 35 I wonder if this condition will become worse with age and if there are any treatments or surgeries to fix this problem.

Without examining your feet I can not say anything for certain. You should probably see either a podiatrist, orthopedist or neurologist for an evaluation. One thought I had is a hereditary neuromuscular disorder such as Charcot Marie Toothe disease. Another is Friedrich’s ataxia. These often present with a high arch foot. There can certainly be other causes, but a qualified specialist needs to examine you further.
