week legs and upper body strength

My dad is 80 years old and was in the hospital for 3 weeks in bed with no walking at all.Now he has a walker but sometime his legs just let go on him and he has no upper body strength to lift himself up. Is there any excersizes he can do at home to strengthen his legs and upper body? He has been taking small walks in the house, but he is very week.

    I’m a 19 year old female and since I’m always too busy with college I can’t seem to find the time to exercise. As a result, I’ve lost most of my upper body stregth and gained stronger leg muscles. Please tell me what I can do. If there is some way of gaining upper body strength in a matter of minutes that would be great.
