weight bearing on broken foot
(4 discussions)
About 11 weeks ago, I broke the second, third, and fourth metatarsal bones in my left foot.
I have seen 2 doctors about this injury: an orthopaedic surgeon, and a podiatrist.
I am currently in a walking boot.
These 2 doctors have very differing opinions.
The podiatrist thinks I should still be on crutches.
The orthopaedic surgeon thinks that weight bearing induces healing, and that I should be placing weight on my broken foot and should even be starting to wear stiff-soled shoes.
Who do you think is right?
Thanks for any advice.

The answer is "it depends on how you are healing." Your answers need to come from someone who has examined you and has seen your X-rays. If necessary, get a 3rd opinion.
