Weird lump/squishiness in the ball of my foot

HiI was wondering if you could help me with a problem I’m having in my right foot. I recently started running (in a pair of worn out shoes), and after a couple months of training I was running 4 miles three times a week. I started noticing, when standing on tiptoe in the shower for instance, that it felt like there was “more foot” in the ball of my right foot. The next week, while running five miles, I started to feel some pressure in the ball of that foot. After completeing the run I had some numbness and tingling in the foot. I’ve stopped running for now (this was two weeks ago), but the foot problems continue. I don’t notice it much when wearing flip flops, but when I put on running shoes (both old and new ones) I feel like there is something like a blister (something squishy) inside the ball of my right foot. Today I did some work on the eliptical machine, and it seemed to spread out. Any ideas on what this might be and how I might treat it?Lance

I recommend you see a podiatrist for an examination. One possibility is a capsulitis and another is a neuroma, but without an examination, this is just a guess.
