Winnograd Hallux

My DPM wants to do a Winnograd Hallux but I can’t find anything about it online… Do you know where I can find info. or can you explain to me the process of this procedure. It seems extreme for just repeated ingrown toenails.

This procedure is not as commonly performed as other nail surgery procedures. But the end result should look like other nail surgeries. What your nail might look like depends how much nail the doctor needs to remove. I will usually draw a line showing the patient how much nail will be removed. I put my finger over the area to illustrate the point. Ask your doctor to do the same or at least discuss your concerns about this.

This is what we used to refer to as a "sharp" procedure. It certainly is useful in certain situations. It involves more resection of the tissue.Your doctor can describe this and diagram it for you. Is there anywhere that I can see pictures of what my toe will look like after this procedure? I went to the website you gave but it only gave a couple sentences about it…is there anything else somewhere else? I’ve checked webmd and all with no luck…that scares me that theres no pictures of more then a couple sentenses on it online. Again thanx for your help.
