Wrist pain

Hi,My name is Mark, I have serious pain in my outer, upper wrist, where if you’re looking at the back of your hand, it’s just above (towards my pinkie) the round wrist bone.
It’s sharp pain that doesn’t allow me to turn my wrists in a counter clockwise direction without serious pain.
I am a carpenter who surfs as well, and the pain seems to worsen when I’m pushing down with my palms…push-ups are impossible.
There is no tingling in my fingertips, no pain around my palms. Does anybody have any ideas other than Carpal Tunnel Syndrom?any information would be greatly appreciated.
It really puts a damper on my life. Thanks, and happy holidays.Mark

My husband had the exact same problem. The ligament that loops around that bone and prevents it from rubbing against other small bones, was torn. His tear occurred from pushing too hard on a pipe wrench. His doctor said that 50% of the time the ligament will heal on its own, but it must be casted in order to heal. So he wore a cast for two weeks and then went back to see if there was any progress. Unfortunately it wasn’t healing, so my husband had surgury to stitch everything back in place. It wasn’t very invasive and it turns out that he had a lot of scar tissue so it was a good thing the doctor performed the surgery. Post surgery, he had to wear a cast for 6 weeks. He’s now starting 2-3 weeks of physical therapy and then the doctor said it should be as good as new. I would recommend going with the surgery because if you haven’t felt any improvement, it’s not going to heal on its own.
