Wrist Pain after Removal of Splint

My son broke his 5th metacarpal in his left hand.
The splint was removed 1 1/2 weeks ago after having been splinted for 5 weeks. Xrays show that the bone has healed nicely (it was a displacement break).
However since having the splint removed he has had continual wrist pain.
I assume that some of this is normal after being immobolized for so long but how long should this last and are there exercises he can do to help alleviate the pain.

I suggest you ask your doctor if you can see a certified hand therapist. They are usually occupational therapists, but some are physical therapist. He should be looked at someone who really knows hands. Good luck. Mya
