wrist surgery? is it necessary
(3 discussions)
I’ve been suffering from a troublesome wrist for several years following a fall of my bike. I’m never in that much pain but am unable to put a lot of wait on it and this rules out alot of sport and upper body training exercises. An MRI scan showed some ligament damage and am now waiting for a wrist athroscopy. However I am concerned over the risks of surgery and whether there is any treatment that would improve my symptons without surgery. Any ideas?

James, I am suffering the exact symptoms as you. I am awaiting a 2nd MRI and my Doctor said that most likely I too would have to have surgery. Can you please write to me let me know what happened to you and what you went through. Thank you so much!

I am having the same problam I went to a specialist and found out that I broke a ligament in my wrist, it was a year ago when I fell. The doctor said that it is all most to late but he should be able to fix it by putting 2 pins in for 8 weeks and if the ligament is to far gone then I would haave to get a partial wrist fusion.

What ligament was damaged? I had scapholunate ligament damage and had surgery for it in August. I have some reduction in range of motion and a bit of clumsiness of my hand BUT the pain is gone and I am able to do carpentry and play hockey. My other wrist is exhibiting signs of having the same damage and I am holing off, at present, for a while before I get it fixed.
Good luck! Jim
