12 year old daughter

In December 2012 my daughter had a stress fracture of her sesamoid bone on her left foot.
Several weeks ago she started to develop pain and a lump on the top of her foot.
An xray showed a bone spur on the metatarsal bone.
Could this have been caused by her previous injury?
Any other treatments available besides surgery?
Would surgery be recommended on a child who’s foot is still growing?
Thanks for any advice you can give.

I can't think of a reason why a sesamoid injury which is on the bottom of the 1st metatarsal would cause this. Where exactly is the spur and is it an osteochondroma? What did your doctor say?

The spur is on the top of the 1st metatarsal. The doctor didn’t recommend surgery at this time due to age and open growth plates.
