5th metatarsal -to Rocky Davis and others

(2 discussions)

Hello Rocky,Thank you for responding to my post.
You are very correct in stating that the bone needs to be stressed to a certain extent.
I forgot to mention that I did put my own weight onto my bone.
Gently at first, and only as much as it could bear.
I deduced that the bone ought to be sressed lightly in order to promote healing.
However, the fiber glass cast was NOT the right thing for me, at this time.
I know it, I feel it.
I have a question to ask of you: What do you mean by “cam cast”?
Is this something like a fiber glass boot (much like a ski boot), with a lining inside? In my house, I do not walk around unprotected.
I wear some other shoes with a lot of padding and sturdy.
I did not want to mention the brand, because I am not here to sell them.
Finally, I am NOT giving advice to anyone.
I am sharing my heartfelt experiences.
I hope this helps.
In health and healing.
Pat.
P.S. I would put this under the thread, but the reason I am putting it under a new post is because I am not sure how to put it under the previous thread.
I don’t see anything on my screen which would allow me to put it under the thread.
If anyone can help in this regard, I would appreciate it.

Yes, the cam walker is much like a ski boot. You have to do what you feel is best for you, but they make the fracture walkers for a reason. Good luck!!

I don’t see how you can wear a hiking boot, yet you cannot wear the boot. It doesn’t make sense really. To each his/her own.
