I’ve just suffured a complete rupture and i’m now in plaster for eight weeks. My concern is that i have felt no severe pain throughout, is this normal?

    No pain and we’re concerned…funny, isn’t it?

I have just suffered the same injury (8th Aug). As it occured, I thought somone kicked me, I heard the ‘bang’, and I felt the spring-like vibrations. I heard about the signs so I knew immediately what had happened.

It throbbed like an ankle sprain as I was taken to a local emergency ward. After half an hour of sitting in emergency with my leg raised over the arm of a chair, I was beginning to wonder if I hadn’t simply sprained a calf. There was almost no pain and I could actually walk (albeit a hobble) on the injured leg. Even after surgery, and still today there is no pain.

I have been explaining it as a major pain-in-the-butt, not the leg, due to the lengthy lay-up.

Keep your spirits up my friend.

At the time it ruptures you can be pain free!!

I really don’t know about afterwards though!

My sisters went and she was in great pain. She said it was worse than child birth, but like I said, often there is no pain.

    Good luck with it,
    Sarah.
