achilles tendon partial rupture

The doctor told me it was quite serious and to ‘baby’ it and use ice, then he said a tensor bandage is a good idea. He gave me a referral to a physiotherapy clinic – which I can not get into for a month. Should I be doing something more than hobbling about for the next month?
I would like to eventually have full use to play sports again.
