Achilles Tendon Rupture

Can anyone with experience of an Achilles Tendon rupture offer me some advice?

I had an operation on October 10th 2004 to repair a ruptured achilles. I was in plaster for two weeks then a ‘ski’ boot for six weeks. I am now walking reasonably well having had a few weeks of pysiotherapy. I have good flexability and movement in the injured leg, but as yet I am unable to raise my heel (or stand on tip toe) on the injured leg.

This obviously causes me to walk with a slight limp. I am told that this movement (heel raise) will eventually return to normal. Can someone who has suffered the same injury tell me if they had the same problem with raising their heel, and how long it took to make a full recovery?

Thanks

David
