Achillies tendon

(2 discussions)

i am having trouble in the mornings with my achillies tendon, it is very sore and stiff but once warmed up it gives me little problem, i realise rest is the answer but at this time of the season i don’t want to, does anyone know what do to make the pain ease and, more importantly, to prevent it getting worse.

another trick is to use a 2mm or so heel lift, takes a little stress off the achilles, dont know if you would want to use it while actually running or anything, but in the interim it might help. the physio is great, active release works very well in addition ot the physio tecniques.

I had the same thing happen to me, I understand your mid-season issues. The best thing for me was physical therapy. The therapist can locate the really bad spots, and then use massage and/or electrical stimulation to help calm things down and stop muscle spasms. Good luck!
