ankle pain

Broke both bones at my ankle and tore ligaments, had surgery for a plate on the largest bone. Just got the boot cast off after 7 weeks and am in a gel brace and new balance shoes. I am hurting alot. Can’t seem to walk right on my foot. Is this normal and I just need to give it time? I am starting therapy next week. I do some exercises every day, several times a day. What can I do?Caron
