ankle popping

(4 discussions)

I feel that my left ankle pops excessively, nearly every other step on some occasions. There is no real pain involved, and I’ve read that this is not a concern. If this is true, is there anything I can do to stop the popping as a mere “annoyance?”

Ank;e popping is common in people wiith high arches. You may want to get evaluated by a physical therapist to find out if that is the reason of ankle popping. If yes you may need exercises, anle dorsiflexion mobs . plantarflexor stretches. People with high arches may develop plantar fascitis and may be knee problems, therefore I would suggest a thourough evaluation and preventive treatment.

My ankles pop when I run. It is more like a mild click. It hasn’t been a problem. I think that it could have been from running too much. Since I have stopped running as much my ankles do not pop anymore.

My ankles get stiff and “need to be popped” or turned in appropriate motionn to make them pop… some during the day… BUT ALMOST EVERY NIGHT I AM AWAKEN WITH THEM HURTING FROM NEEDING TO BE POPPED.WHY? I had various problems as a child with my ankles (broken ligaments, etc.) They have been terribly upsetting affecting my sleep most nights. I end up having to put heat on them to calm them enough to return to sleep.Recommendations?

My right ankle does the same thing but with every step. There is no pain but is very annoying to me and others espesially when it is quite around the house. It’s here comes mom a cracking! My concern is that I do wake up with severe stiffness and pain around my heel every morning. I limp around for about 20 min. and the pain is gone. Do you experience the same? I would be nice to find out something I could do to stop this from happening. Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks. Sherry
