An inversion ankle sprain is when the ankle is rolled inward, thus injuring the ligaments on the outside of the ankle. First, I would recommend ice and compression and a ankle brace to provide stability. Stop all running or "pounding" activity, such as basketball, etc. You must give time for the ankle to heal. A few exercises in the meantime...sit and roll your foot over a tennis ball...place your foot on a towel and "scrunch" it up with your toes...hold your foot up in the air (sitting in a chair) and make circles with your foot starting going toward the outside. Stand and attempt to balance on the injured side..make sure and wear your brace for this. Good luck, Mya PT

What type of injury did you have? Start out with low impact activities to attempt to lose weight and avoid pounding activities, like running, that may aggrevate your ankle. Try biking, swimming, using machines for more your upper extremities.
