(2 discussions)
I am training for my first half marathon-it’s in 3 weeks time.3 days ago whilst doing my long run,i turned my ankle on a tree root,it hurt!but after a couple of minutes i was able to continue.I iced my ankle about 4 times that day and it was sore, but ok.The next day it was swollen and a bit stiff,so again i rested it,today it feels better, and the swelling is significantly less-i am desperate to continue my training schedule, does anyone have any advice?Should i go for a short run and test it or not???Please help me!!!!!!!!!!!thankyou!

Im guessing you have an inversion sprain, the most common of all injuries to the lower limb.So far it seems you have done all the right things, but I would not be in any great rush to get back training just yet. More than likely you have damaged the Talofibular and/or Calcaneofibular ligments, so seek out a good sports massage therapist in your area for some deep friction massage.Good luck!
