Back injury from car accident-help me competing in a week!

(2 discussions)

I was in a minor car accident a week or so ago, and have started having back troubles recently resulting from the accident, the thing is Iam an athlete and have a big indoor competition next week, so firstly need to know what Ive done because its definatly not whiplash Im in agony most the time! I have a very bad pain in my upper back in between my shoulder blades, its sore to touch and feels like I need to crack it or stretch it to get rid of the pain even though dtretching hasn’t helped. My coach has just advised light stretches but like I said that didn’t work. Occasionally I get the odd twinge in my back, does anyone know what Ive done? and how can I sort it in time for 12th November!? plz help, thanks x

You don’t necessarily have to experience whiplash to have muscular issues. There are a lot of possibilities to the origin of your discomfort, especially after experiencing trauma. I would suggest getting a deep tissue massage. The therapist will not only work on releasing those muscles, but help stretch them too, as well as give you follow up stretches/exercises to do at home. I would also suggest seeing a chiropractor to make sure your bones are healthily aligned.
