Bad calf cramp

I was on a bike ride the other day. It was not a hard ride. Going from a dead stop at a traffic light my calf suddenly violently cramped. The muscle was frozen solid for about 30 seconds and it has been incredibly sore since then. I have had severe sudden cramps like this before, but never with lasting pain. Can you injure a muscle from only a cramp. I want to contiue training if it is only a cramp and not seriously, but if it my muscle is injured obviously I need to rest it.
Thanks you

and in reply, i dont think you can really injure yourself from a cramp as it is just a muscle tensing.

I get cramp all the time in my hamstrings, calfs, inner foot and occasinally back. Calf cramps have lasted for a day or two before but never aounted to anything.
