Ball of foot/toe pain
I am a runner. I wear very good running shoes — usually New Balance but have tried all kinds. When I run, about 2 miles into a long run, the ball of my foot starts hurting. As the pain increases, a shooting pain or burning increases between my 1st or 2nd and/or 2nd or 3rd toes. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening? Lately, any of my long runs/races (4 – 10 miles) are done with extreme pain in both feet.

There are several things that come to mind-a neuroma, tarsal tunnel syndrome or bad foot mechanics. A gait analysis and examination by a podiatrist would be the thing to do. Then you can decide what is the right thing to do.
