: : thanx: Did you punch a wall, or someone else, either by accident or on purpose? These are the most common ways for someone to get a Boxer’s Fracture. Good luck with your healing; maybe you will be able to heal with just a cast and w/o surgery. Let us know how you make out.hi there, I had a boxers fracture back in november, its now july and I’m having surgery tomarrow. xrays showed it being healed, ct said it wasnt. got some kind of injection in the joint which worked for awhile but, its caused me a lot of problem. aches, sometimes hurts, I feel like a popping in there somewhere and it hurts when someone shakes my hand. good luck to you. hope it goes well 🙂

My name is Barrett Withers. I received a boxer’s fracture about three years ago when a struck a wall in anger. I went to go see a doctor about it but he simply wrapped it up and told me to keep ice on it. A few months later I went back to the doctor and he told me it had healed well. But I can feel my 5th metacarpal head still imbedded back into my hand. And my hand goes numb alot and it hurts when people shake my hand. Also I have alot of stiffness in my hand which slows down my typing tremendously. My Question is there some kind of surgery I could get that could have my 5th metacarpal bone reset into it’s original position. If so it would take a great deal of pain out of my life and help me alot. Please email me back at my email address if anyone can answer my question. Thank you.

I have a boxers fracture by punching someone in the back of the head nothing was done but I got half a cast put on, a week later I had surgery ( 4 pins put in it)which was like 5 days ago.. yes it freakin hurts, i’ve been taking tylenol 3, but i’m trying to avoid them cuz they go straight to your liver(not good at all)..anyways I’m pretty sure the pins well be taken out in about 4-6 weeks..but I’m hoping the pain will soon be over untill they remove the pins…good luck to all with my problem lol… I’m getting tired typing with my left hand..bye bye

Good Morning All. I got a Boxers Fracture last year August (2003) – I waited about 2 weeks after to see a doctor because it didn’t seem seriousm but it hurt like hell. Turns out that the damage was so severe, it required surgery and metal pin placement, 6 weeks in a cast – 2 months of physical theraphy – and over a year later, the knuckle is still a bit stiff – No pain or functionality problems, just stiff knuckle. Any idea if there is a procedure that can be done to loosen the Knuckle back to normal flexibility? Thank you.
