Broken femur

My 50-year-old boyfriend broke his femur in a motorcycle accident last week.
He also broke both hands.
He is a self-employed concrete finisher and has no medical insurance.
They put a rod and screws in his leg.
They put a business card with his belongings from a hand and wrist microsurgeon but never said anything about surgery for the hands.
He is not in any casts.
They didn’t say anything about physical therapy either.
He’s out of the hospital after a week and we don’t know what to do next. Do we get him into physical therapy no matter what? Are there exercises he can do at home? How long will it take to heal?
Will he ever be able to work again as a concrete finisher?

Back in 1970 I broke my right femur. It was mended with a device called Steinman’s Pin. I may not have it spelled correctly; however, I want to know mor about this pin. Thank you.

I broke my femur 2 years ago I have only been able to walk for about 6 months now because I still have a lot of pain I have to see a specialist beause I have sclerosisI do not understand anything about this
