Question: 10 year old boy, 4’8″ 58lbs. broke tibia, fibula, and fracture went into growth plate near knee on 7/24 while wakeboarding. Surgery 2 screws, cast off 9/7 6+ weeks. National championships for wakeboarding 10/13. At the time the cast was taken off I asked Dr. what % his leg was in comparison to the other being 100% and Dr. said right now 75%. Is doing PT at home bike 1hr. 100 leg lifts, swimming. Will start PT elsewhere after 2 wks. Still on crutches for 2 wks. Will he be ready to ride on 10/13? His Dr. seems to think so, won’t be 100% but will this be safe?

Question. The leg is better now the brake was over one year ago. Yesterday we visit Children Hospital and the doctor exrayed my son and said we may need to operate again to stop the growth of the left leg. My son is 15.ht is 5’9″. I don’t think he will grow that much more. Standing on his rt leg he is 5’8 1/2. His brother is 5’11”, I am 5’9″ mother is 5’7″. I’m nervous about another operation. Is there something else we can do? Can we exray monthly and maybe the bad leg will catch up to the good leg.
Should I get a second opinion? Pls share your thoughts with me. thanks
