Why are you putting any weight on your left leg after surgery??? If you want this to heal properly and not give you any complications later, do NOT put any weight or try to use this leg at all. Otherwise, you’re just prolonging your pain and suffering… don’t be stubborn about this, or you will not heal, or you will heal improperly and it will give you permanent pain.

Agree with the guy who told you not to use your leg at all for at least a month or however long your doctor prescribed. If you’re alone and don’t have anyone to help you, this is what I recommend: (Hopefully, you have strong upper body strength) Move your furniture aside (I got on my back and pushed things aside. Kinda crude way, but it worked), if you need groceries shop online (safeway.com), watch TV or read books keeping your leg elevated on some pillows, I ate a lot less during my injury (so I lost some weight). The most challenging thing is bathing. I had to have a friend buy and bring over a plastic chair and placed it in the shower. I also have a shower that has a shower curtain (versus a glass door), so I was able to stick my leg out while I was sitting down and get a small chair and rest my foot on that. Be very careful… any chance of slippage, make sure you somehow address that by using rubber mats. I would say it is definitely the most dangerous activity while having a leg injury. Bottom line, do not use your injured leg!!! You’ll get over this in a few months. Don’t worry… you’re not the first and you won’t be the last. Good luck!

Do not put any weight on your leg…….as for the pain medication, I must of had a nice MD cause he gave me percocet and it worked really well for pain. The worst part of the whole thing for me was that when I broke my leg I also dislocated my ankle. Popping that thing back in place was some serious pain even with morphine they were giving me. The most important thing is let it heal, the surgery is not a quick fix. It’s a huge inconvenience, but you have to deal. I do mostly everything on my own and I get by. Hang in there!
