Bruised Ribs
(5 discussions)
Several years ago, I started having problems with my left lower rib, popping out whenever I would bend forward, which caused me to gasp and wait until it went back in.
I was told this was a “floating rib”, but I had never had one before and never understood how that had happened.Last week, while in our jacuzzi, I leaned over the edge to get ice and felt this tremendous pressure and knew the rib went back into place…as it does not stick out any longer.
However, I cannot sleep as the pain is getting worse.
Is this just bruised?

I was playing Hockey on sunday and fell against the boards. Now my left chest is hurting I’m not sure if it’s a bruised rib or the peck muscle. There is some pain when I breath. But most of the pain is when I move certain ways or lay down. What treatment would be best ice or heat.Any advice is appreactiated thank you.

My husband was carrying a plastic box & accidentally bumped into a filing cabinet at work. He is complaining of pain & soreness on his side rib area. He says it is more painful when lying down…….should he use heat or ice on it?
