Bulged Disc

(2 discussions)

Hello, I have a Bulged disc in my lower back and for the past 3-4 years I was told that I had Mechanical back. Only after an MRI was informed that it was a bulged disc. I’m in the Military and seems that everytime I try to have something done about it no listens. What I want to know is that if untreated for a prolonged period of time well this condition worsen and to what degree, is already to the point that hurts to put on my belt, can fell a lump in my lower back at the belt line. If I remmber correctly the location is LS1(i don’t know where that is). Anything you can tell me about this would help greatly.ThanksJames Timmons

James;Sciatic Neuralgia (nerve pain) can be a real bitchI have had it for 13 years now and all I can tell you is what works for me. My doctor, who also suffers from sciatic nueralgia suggests that the most helpful thing one can do, is get in a hot bath tub or hot tub and soak. I have found due to the fact that I have 7 bulging, herniate, or protruding discs in both my lumbar and thoracic region that a tub is much more painful then it is helpful. I take a medication called Neurontin which works as a neural (nerve) pain killer, there are minimal side effects, but it is the only thing I have found to be 100% effective. There are 3 different dosages so you will have to have your doctor prescibe what works best for you. The medication is traditionally used as a anti-seizure medication but has found to be helpful in chronic pain of the neural typeand dosages of 3,200mg. can be used without any problems. I hope it works for you. I also take a potent narcotic pain killer called OxyContin and it seems to offer no help with this type of pain and the Neurontin works every time. It doesn’t hurt to pray, either!David
