bump on foot

I have a bump on the outside of my left foot. It’s just below my pinky toe but on the side of my foot. It’s hard and feel like it’s bone? I thought at first it was a bunion (sp?) because they are hereditary in my family, but my mom said they are typically on the inside of the foot by the big toe?
