Bunions come back?
I ha 2 buionectomies when I was 17 yrs old, one @ a time.
I am now 24 and am told that if I don’t religiously wear my orthodics my bunions will come back.
This doesn’t make any sense to me.
I t is difficult for me to wear my orthodics because I also have to wear a lift in my right shoe due to one leg being shorter.
Any ideas?

I would be untruthful if I told you every patient who has had a bunion surgery wears orthotics religiously afterwards. It is in our nature to slack off if we do not perceive the need. I can't say I can give you a reference that documents this and has the research to back it up. Having said all that, theoretically, it might be a correct statement for some particular bunion deformities. I am sorry I can't give you a definitive answer.
