burning heel pain
I have a history of plantar fascitis that has not been bothering me of late.
I wear Birkenstock shoes and an custom orthotic in my fitness shoes.
My question is this: I was on my feet more than usual this last week and was a little sore so before getting out of bed in the morning I have been stretching my feet by flexing my feet and pulling my toes toward me.
When I did this yesterday I felt a sharp burning sensation in my heel.
It didn’t seem sore yesterday except if I was to flex my foot.
I iced it and elevated it last evening.
Today I can feel a burning sensation and it gets worse if I have any stretch on my calves, feet etc.
I just want to know what to do for this and is it something that I need to see a doctor for.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Without examining you, I can not say for certain. I suspect though, that you may have a reoccurence of your plantar fasciitis. I am not a big fan of stretching when the patient is acutely painful. I suggest ice and rest and anti-inflammatory medication. If you are not making progress, then I recommend you see your podiatrist.
