Calf injury

(2 discussions)

I injured my calf muscle playing football, although it was probably caused through overuse. The damage seems to have healed after rest but is still very stiff. Can anyone recommend anything i can try to rehabilitate the muscles and get them back to good working order.
I’m currently doing calf raises, but is there anything else i can try to speed up the process and get my balance back to 100%
Thanks

Salt will only help to prevent cramps and is not recommended as a long term solution. It will probably make you feel nauseus. You should try and maintain a stretching regime for gastroc. and soleus muscles of the calf as per the Injury Index on this site.I would also recommend a visit to a good Sports or Remedial Massage Therapist in order to break down any remaining scar tissue or tight spots in the muscle. Good luck

I don’t think you should be doing calf raises, just rest.

Drink lots of Gatorade and get lots of salt into you.
