calf muscle

(5 discussions)

Was in my tae kwon do class and was doing a kick where I step in and all of my weight is on left leg. As soon as this happened It felt like someone hit my calf with a ball bat.
It first almost felt like a trolly horse, but when that sensation was gone my calf was extremely stiff and sore.
This happened on Wed. it is now Sat. and it doesn’t seem to be improving, and I noticed that my leg is somewhat swelled down to my ankle, and the calf is now showing some bruising. Do you think it is only a pulled muscle or something else.

Hi, my name is Juile. I have a similar problem to the one you have had. My calf muscle has been swelling for a minimum of 5 months. I went to the doctors and all they said was it was a torn calf muscle and I had to deal with it. Do you have any ideas about how I can over-come the pain it is causing me? I have looked up treatments but the doctor said to do what they shown. I have and nothing has worked. Will you please give me some help? Or at least tell me how you helped your calf muscle feel better? Sincerely, Juile

i woke up in pain a couple nights ago because my calf was all cramped up. I couldn’t move the leg at all. I tryed streching it out but streching only made it worst. my older sister helped me up, and I tryed walking it off, but it took a good 20 minuetes for it to where out. it’s been happening every night sinse then and it puts me through a lot of pain. my older sister said it was from not drinking enough water. Please help me, please give me some type of advice on getting rid of the cramps. Thank you….linda

I stepped off my porch with sort of a bounce (play acting with my kids) and felt deep sharp pain in the lower/medial part of my right gastroc. I can palpate the area of pain, about the size of a 1/2 dollar. The greatest pain is when I walk on it but I can also feel some pain when I point my toes. There is only slight pain while sitting (although my right foot feels a dull sensation like it has “gone to sleep”. There is no discoloration yet. Can you tell me if I may have a pull or a tear and what I should do to treat it?
