Medial ligament – Trapped nerve?
Hi,
I injured my medial ligament in my elbow over 2 years ago. (Recently diagnosed as a bad grade 2!)
I reinjured it over a year ago, and that time the movements that caused pain had changed slightly.
I have now reinjured it again. (Sat), but this time the change is more noticable! None of teh old movments that used to hurt it cause pain, but now all the newer ones that started last time!
At the beginning, and with aother injuried I have had, I was tested to see if the nerves had got trapped. They weren’t, but I get the impression that injuries can then lead to that problem!!!
The injury is on the inside of my elbow, and at first pain was felt when I stressed my elbow inwards and wrist outwards. This time the pain is in the same place but inwards doesn’t hurt at all, whereas to stress it outwards (should be relieving it!) sends a very sharp pain through the inside of my elbow.
The pain is slightly different now than it was before, and I reckon could feel a bit like a nerve. (Could be my imagination though, as I think that’s what it might be!)
Does it sound like it could be a trapped nerve? And would that explain the movement that causes the pain. Ie, instead of releiving it, it is pinching it!!
If so, what can I do to help? If it’s trapped will it free itself with time, or will I need treatment to free it? I am presuming if that’s what it is, anti inflamitories and ice will stop swelling and therefore release some of the pressure on it, in turn stopping it from becoming more inflamed and then pinched further. Would that be right?
Thanks for any help,
Sarah.
