Medial ligament – Trapped nerve?

(2 discussions)

Hi,

I injured my medial ligament in my elbow over 2 years ago. (Recently diagnosed as a bad grade 2!)
I reinjured it over a year ago, and that time the movements that caused pain had changed slightly.

I have now reinjured it again. (Sat), but this time the change is more noticable! None of teh old movments that used to hurt it cause pain, but now all the newer ones that started last time!
At the beginning, and with aother injuried I have had, I was tested to see if the nerves had got trapped. They weren’t, but I get the impression that injuries can then lead to that problem!!!

The injury is on the inside of my elbow, and at first pain was felt when I stressed my elbow inwards and wrist outwards. This time the pain is in the same place but inwards doesn’t hurt at all, whereas to stress it outwards (should be relieving it!) sends a very sharp pain through the inside of my elbow.
The pain is slightly different now than it was before, and I reckon could feel a bit like a nerve. (Could be my imagination though, as I think that’s what it might be!)

Does it sound like it could be a trapped nerve? And would that explain the movement that causes the pain. Ie, instead of releiving it, it is pinching it!!

If so, what can I do to help? If it’s trapped will it free itself with time, or will I need treatment to free it? I am presuming if that’s what it is, anti inflamitories and ice will stop swelling and therefore release some of the pressure on it, in turn stopping it from becoming more inflamed and then pinched further. Would that be right?

Thanks for any help,

Sarah.

Pain below normal IT band syndrome pain point

I have had a pain below my right knee on the outside for the last week. It came on suddenly and hasn’t responded to NSAID’s or ice treatment (while I stopped running for a week). I thought it was IT Band syndrome but after looking up information about this it would seem that the pain should be right at the knee joint, but my pain is 1 – 1.5 inches below that. It seems to be approx. where the IT band inserts into the lower leg bone. Can anyone help me diagnose this and figure out what I need to do?

Patellar Tendon Pain and Ciprofloxacin

Is it possible that the use of a prescription drug such as Ciprofloxacin has caused localized pain in the patellar tendon region? Prior to use of this drug for an ear infection I had no pain in this area. I have since discontinued use of this drug for about 6 weeks now.

Thank you

John

Left quad pain

I have been running for many injury free years but now i have what i think is either a pulled muscle or worse. It is getting better but the problem is a dull ache to sharp pain in my left quad area just to the upper right of the kneecap although it is not always that localised. I especially hurts if i use the clutch pedel in my car , stairs of if when siting down the edge of the seat presses into the rear of my thigh. Neurophen and a tight strap have helped but any ideas are welcome as i am doing the London Maraton again.

Infra-Patellar Tendon rupture repair

(2 discussions)

I ruptured my right patellar tendon on 12/12/02, had repair surgery on 12/17/02. My doc has me on a slightly conservative recovery program, no weight bearing for two weeks post-op, with limited range of motion and isometric quad exercises beginning thereafter. I am looking for any recommendations to ease the recovery. I am finding the knee very stiff, 23 days post-op; my range of motion is about 45 deg, with little daily progress. Can I/should I use any analgesics (Icy Hot, Ben Gay), to aid the range of motion? Hot tub, pain pills? I would appreciate any input to help improve my recovery. Thanks.

Pain in Hip

(4 discussions)

I’m new to this site but I’d really appreciate some help please. I am a female of 38 yrs and I used to be a bodybuilder (natural). Over the last 3 years i’ve gone though the detraining period and for the last 6 months I’ve not really done anything apart from dabble with light weights. Since Christmas, I’ve developed a pain in my left hip flexors. It gives me sharp pain if I put weight on that side & also on release. It doesn’t bother me to flex or extend the hip but inner & outer rotation also causes sharp pain . Abduction & adduction are OK. I origionally thought that it might be because I’d been abit slack on the exercise front so I started doing strengthing exercises but it seems to be getting worse. I’m qualified in sports massage but this has really got me stumped. I need someone who has had similiar/same or someone with more experience to help please.
Thanks in anticipation, Lulu

Need diagnosis–MCL strain?

I injured my “knee” playing hockey last night. I continued playing at 70%.
Symptoms: tender to touch on lower inside of knee; no swelling; pain when bending knee in standing position, so as to try to touch my butt with my heel; no pain squatting.

Diagnosis? Let’s say I HAD to surf in the next couple days. Any thoughts on taping etc?

Thanks in advance,
Jessica
