I was in a car accident and cracked my sternum, and have a pinched nerve and herniated a disk in my back. Is there anything you they do for a crakced sternum besides taking pain medicine ?? I hope to start PT for my back real soon.
Jim,Short of putting you in one of those old time full-chest plaster casts, there is little you can do for your sternal fracture. You just need to try and get rest, and give your body time to heal. I have seen some patients get some relief with an elastic strap around their chest…with a piece of foam rubber over the sternum. You might want to ask your Orthopedist and/or PT about that option. Let us know what they say, and good luck.
