Cuboid pain

(2 discussions)

after I was jogging the outside of my right foot started to hurt.
After doing some research I am pretty sure the pain is coming from the cuboid (maybe the calcaneocuboid joint).
Now it hurts whenver I walk or run.
The pain is less severe when I walk on the balls of my feet.
Also, whenever I walk or move my foot I notice a slight crackling feeling where the pain is.
Should I be concerned or is this something that will go away with time?

Without examining your foot I can’t tell you for sure. Certainly you could have a subluxed cuboid, but in I might also consider the possibility of a fractured cuboid, fractured os peroneum (small accesory bone in the peroneus longus tendon)or a tear in the peroneus longus tendon. I think you should see a podiatrist for further evaluation and recommendations. Good luck

Hello, I have been training for an upcoming marathon. After running up stairs one afternoon, after about an hour-and-a-half hilly jog, I experienced what I think is cuboid pain. That was two months ago and the pain is only very slightly better. I have the race coming up. Is this pain going to get better? I’ve stayed off my foot as far as running. Is there anything else I can do? Thank you, Mike
