dislocated fingers

I have a dislocated pinky finger. I would like to know how to fix it without a docters visit. It is the middle joint on my finger everyone tells me to pull it but I don’t know if they are right or not. When it first happened I thought it was a jammed finger but when the swelling didn’t go away I thought it might be something to worry about. I play high school football so I have to catch the ball and it hurts when it hits my pinky. a friend of mine told me that if it was dislocated and I didn’t fix it that my finger could fall off. Any thoughts?
