dislocated hammer toe
Dr. Abrams, do you feel that you should ALWAYS perform a tendon transfer when you have surgery on a dislocated hammer toe?
Also, how long do you recommend leaving the k-wire in the toe after having the surgery?
I have been told that I need surgery, and I’m not sure about the the tendon transfer part.
Some of the drs. that I have seen, say NOT to have the transfer as it is still controversial.
What do you recommend?

I am going to take a no comment position on this. I do not have your x-rays or foot to examine and therefore can not say alway sometimes or never. Sorry. What you might do is get copies of your x-rays and get a second opinion.
