Distal Biceps tendon rupture

(2 discussions)

I tore my distal biceps tendon . I had the two incision repair. I am a professional acrobat and suffered my injury during a show. My arm is mostly healed at this time. My question is how much of your original strength does your tendon have after repair? will I be able to do the highly strenous activity I did before without rerupturing my biceps? Do people go back to full physical activity with their repaired arm? I have added a link to my website that has pictures of what we do so anyone that wishes to answer my e-mail can have a clearer idea.sensored://www.szarkaduo.comThanksRobert

I suffered the same injury at the end of May 2014. I had the single incision procedure, with implants in the bone to hold the tendon against the bone. The doctor said that the connection should be stronger than before after it’s completely healed. I would welcome comparing our recovery progress via email.

I saw your entry in orthoped.org, Ask the Physical Therapist website from some time ago. Your situation appeared to be somewhat similar to what I am dealing with right now. I am contemplating surgery on my right shoulder to alleviate bicep tendon problems that I have had continuously for the last couple of years. I will have my bicep tendon clipped and reattached using a bio screw into the top of my upper arm bone. I realize this is not your exact surgery but from your entry it appears to be a similar situation. If you have time to respond to me I would be interested to know if you had the bicep/ shoulder surgery and how it worked out for you. Did it alleviate your problems and are you better off now/ are you glad you had the surgery? Thanks for your consideration. My email address is:[email protected].
