Fib Tip Fracture/walking cast question

ok 4 week xray yesterday shows bone is not joining together as it should Dr says. (Pain from cast is probably because foot is still swelling he says) Not sure how they know, as the original xrays are at another location so how do they compare?. Dr advised seeing orthopedic specialist to see if a pin is needed and taking calcium (so now taking 1500 oscal – 500 3x daily max for post menopausal woman per charts) Ortho group referred to cannot fit me in for another 3 weeks, so I will go back to my orig doc in 2 weeks for xray to hope for a miracle. My questions- 1) I was given no instructions with this walking cast. Should I have been told to stay off of it? I asked about getting a temp handicapped parking sticker as parking at work is 1/2 mile + walk to my desk at work and building. is miles long. Physicians asst who put the cast on just laughed at my request, so I assumed no restrictions. I walk as normal until it hurts, then rest it for a while, take a pain pill (prescrip appears to be simaler to Aleve only lasts for 4 hours and takes 1/2 hour + to kick in) and continue normal life. 2) Can I take more calcium? Any hints on better absorbtion? 3) any websites for more research? thanksI walked on the ankle w/o cast for 5 days with very little pain = had a brace and crutches for a few days to get the swelling down. (Not very good on crutches so those probably caused more damage as I kept losing my balance ) Now with the cast almost constant pain after walking – feels like foot in a vise, which also causes the sore bone to push against the cast and ache. I was not a good patient as I was purposely trying to break the cast to reduce the cast pain, Like standing on the bad foot and pushing all my weight against the cast which could explain the not healing…
