flat footed children
(2 discussions)
Two of my triplets age 5.5 and my 7 yr old are extremely flat footed. My sister who is a Physical therapist for the county school system says their feet are starting to “pronate”. We usually buy Walmart of Traget tennis shoes for them. Should I switch to new balance shoes or do nothing? They do occassionally have some arch area pain after a day of busy activity, but this rare.

Whether their "flatfooted" appearance is pathological or is unknown. The best way to answer your question is to have them examined by a podiatrist who sees children. As far as the shoes go, I would not want to pigeon hole you into a brand only. I think New Balance makes a decent shoe, probably better than Target or Walmart's brands which are usually man made (not good) materials.
