foot discomfort

I walk about 6-7 miles each morning. I wear good quality distance walking shoes. About a week ago, I got new shoes, and subsequently experienced pain, burning and itching on the outer aspect and heel of both feet. This comes and goes, in both feet at the same time, and lasts from a few minutes to half an hour. I have tried Desenex, Benadryl cream, and lanacaine, with only temporary relief. I have alternated pairs of shoes, given the feet a day off from walking, but nothing is helping so far.
Any ideas?

Without a detailed exam, it is difficult to zero in on the cause of your problem. Do you have any history of back problems? Have you any other health problems? When does this occur? Is there anything that makes it better? Have you taken any over the counter medications for this?
